What is Chiropractic?

According to The Association of Chiropractic Colleges, “Chiropractic is a health care discipline which emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs and surgery. The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health.” The primary goal in chiropractic care is not only to relieve physical pain but The objective is to restore and optimize human health.

A chiropractic adjustment is a common method for chiropractors to treat back pain and neck pain and involves the chiropractor applying thrusts of varying speed and forces to spinal joints that are causing dysfunction and related pain. Chiropractic care works with the power within your body to create an abundance of health, vitality and wellness.

What happens during a chiropractic visit?

Dr. Erdmann begins each by completing or updating a personal and family medical history, followed by a discussion of current symptoms. After establishing your symptoms, Dr. Erdmann will preform a physical examination of the spine and the musculoskeletal system to identify areas of pain and other symptoms. He will determine the best course of care to relieve those symptoms and to optimize your health. Most visits will include a chiropractic adjustment to help ensure the spine is in proper alignment, so nerve pathways between the brain and the rest of the body are unimpeded and functioning properly. Additional types of treatments may also be used or recommended, including physical therapy, physiotherapy and massage, He will tailor your treatment plan and adjustment session  to your specific needs.
